Getting Started: How to Create a New Sermon

In this article you’ll learn how to create a new sermon! Read the information below for more details.

Starting a new sermon with Sermonary is easy! There are three different ways to begin writing a new sermon: You can write a sermon from scratch in our Classic Editor, write a sermon from scratch in our recommended Blocks Mode, or write a sermon from one of our six pre-built templates (or use a custom template you created). Check out the screenshots and details below to learn more:

CLASSIC EDITOR

If you’re a traditional writer who likes to simply write a sermon on a blank page, Classic Editor will be the route for you.

When in your Sermonary dashboard, click Sermons on the left-hand side of the screen. That will bring you to your Sermon Library, where all of your previous sermons will be stored. Click the blue Write New button in the right-hand side of your screen, select the Blank Sermon – Standard option, and you’ll be directed to your new sermon. Simply fill in the blanks with the appropriate information, then begin writing your sermon in the allotted space. When finished, scroll to the top of the page and press the blue Save Sermon to save your sermon to your Library.

BLOCKS MODE

Our recommended option for writing sermons is Blocks Mode, where you can split your sermon into clean “blocks” based on what piece of material you are presenting (Bible Verse, Illustration, Quotes, etc.).

When in your Sermonary dashboard, click Sermons on the left-hand side of the screen. That will bring you to your Sermon Library, where all of your previous sermons will be stored. Then, click the blue Write New button on the right-hand side of your screen. Select the Blank Sermon – Blocks option, and you’ll be directed to your new sermon. Simply fill in the blanks with the appropriate information and press the blue Add Block button (or the small addition sign) to add your first block. Repeat this step for each block you wish to include until finished. Once you’re done, scroll to the top of the page and press the blue Save Sermon option to save your sermon to your Library.

TEMPLATE

The final way to write your sermon (which includes various options) is to use a pre-built template. You can create a template (view our How to Create a Custom Template blog to learn how to create your own template) or use one of the six pre-built templates we’ve designed for you.

When in your Sermonary dashboard, click Sermons on the left-hand side of the screen. That will bring you to your Sermon Library, where all of your previous sermons will be stored. Then, click the blue Write New button in the right-hand side of your screen. Under “Pre-Built Templates,” select any of the six options, and you’ll be directed to your new sermon with that selected template (to use a custom template, press the dropdown arrow, select “Custom Templates,” and choose the one you made). Simply fill in the blanks with the appropriate information. You can also add or delete any blocks in a pre-built template. When finished, scroll to the top of the page and press the blue Save Sermon to save your sermon to your library.
